About S.H.A.R.E.

ACTIVITIES-

1. Horseback Riding

Currently, our hours of operation are Monday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
Riding sessions are 30 minutes in length.

Riders make a donation of $10 or more per session; however, those without funds are supported by our sponsoring businesses and organizations. No one is turned away because of inability to pay.

Eligible riders can compete in regional and state Special Olympics. We also participate in the Top Hands Horse Show and various local events. A S.H.A.R.E. rider represented the USA and competed in the 2007 Special Olympics World Games in China.

2. Swimming

SHARE offers year-round swimming at the College Station Middle School Natatorium on Friday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This facility is made available through College Station Parks & Recreation, and is available to us year-round, although the pool is closed to the public during the summer. The pool fee is $2.00 per swim or $25 for 40 swims.

This is a chance to swim year-round for exercise, improvement of skills, or to learn how to swim. Water aerobics are also available on a limited basis.

SHARE will have a swim team for Special Olympics comprised of individuals who are learning how to swim and/or who are too young or do not wish to compete with the Aggie Bombers Swim Team. For individuals already on a swim team this program offers a chance to swim year-round in addition to practices for their current team.

As always, the swimming program is open to all members of the family.

Donations to SHARE are always, gratefully, accepted.

3. Ice Skating - Stay tuned for information about out proposed ice skating program.

FUNDING

S.H.A.R.E. is a non-profit organization. It is funded solely by private donations and rider contributions.

Business sponsors make monthly donations towards the care of the horses and support riders who cannot pay. S.H.A.R.E. is actively seeking additional sponsors.

All contributions and donations are tax deductible. Donations of horse supplies, construction materials, and other items are welcome.

VOLUNTEERS

S.H.A.R.E. has no paid employees. All staff members are volunteers. Many of our workers are family members of our riders. We are always in need of volunteers, whether as a worker on a one-time project or on a weekly basis.

Some of the jobs available include:

Assisting riders
Fund raising
Public relations
Caring for the horses
Construction

CONTRIBUTIONS

We actively solicit contributions from businesses, civic and religious organizations, and individuals.

It costs approximately $150 per month to support one horse. Our program has several horses. They are our number one asset.

Monthly sponsors may have their name displayed in our preparation area at competitions; they are also listed prominently in our brochure.

Consider joining us in providing this much appreciated program by sponsoring a horse for one year.
